What happens when I'm gone...

I left home the other morning, and this is what I saw when I got back:

I had to see my OB for my 6 weeks post-delivery visit. Since Kevin & I didn't have our camera in the delivery room, I wanted a pic of Katie with her. If you're looking for good OB/GYN, I highly recommend Dr. Andarsio. She's a fantastic doctor AND an Ohio State fan!

Roses

Just a post to prove that I CAN keep plants alive! (it's the potted ones I get as gifts that I manage to kill, lol), although it's probably not fair for me to take any of the credit because my Grandma Hubbs spent many years culitvating the soil here and growing beautiful plants. I'm sure she had a LOT to do with the fact that it's so easy to grow things in this yard (for those of you who don't know, we bought the house from my grandparents when we got married).

These are blooms from some of the different roses planted in my yard (and this pic doesn't even show all of the roses that I have - I think there are still two others not pictured here). A couple of the roses here were planted by my Grandma Hubbs, and the rest we planted. The kind of pinkish/coral-colored rose at the top middle of the page is a Dolly Parton rose that I got for Mother's Day. I have always wanted a Dolly Parton rose because I think my grandma would have liked it (and I do too). :)

Lounging

If the changing pad is Katie's FAVORITE place in the world, then her vibrating, bouncy seat is her second favorite place. And we take it almost everywhere with us. :) Don't you wish you could just kick back and relax like THIS sometimes???
Pics from Katie's one month birthday and her first studio portraits. She wasn't waking up for ANYTHING (although, I didn't try TOO hard to wake her, because I figured sleeping baby pics were better than screaming baby pics, lol). Check out her little toesies :) Still snoozing...
Oh wait - as soon as we got home, she decided to wake up. Aunt Amy got her this dress, and Katie loved it. :)

The many faces of Katie

The older she gets, the more expressive she gets (must be the Hubbs in her!). It's terrible for me to say, but I even think her sad faces are cute. lol

Splish Splash! I was takin a bath...

So I know that there is already a posting of Katie getting a bath - I just wanted to post this so everyone could see that she no longer screams while in the water. She just gets this wide-eyed, shocked look on her face. She wasn't in her baby tub because, well, she had a diaper blowout and this was an emergency bath. There would be a picture of the blowout too, but Kevin said "I never want to see that again." lol My boss says that Katie's diaper blowouts are her way of showing us she has a sense of humor. If that is the case, the kid is going to be a comedian one day. I personally don't find Katie's "jokes" to be very funny.

Katie drying off in the towel that my Uncle Lamon & Aunt Betty got us. The hooded part is a crown and says "princess" across it. I just think this picture is funny because of one thing - check out Katie's super long pinky toe! She always has it stretched out like that too. I can't figure out where she got such a long pinky toe - and believe me, I have been asking the family. Be aware that if you stop by my house, you may have to remove your shoes to prove you don't also have a super long pinky toe!

P.S. Katie Lauren Holmes is named after one of my best friends and college roommate named Lauren, who coincidentally HATES the words "pinky toe." I think it's fitting that this posting has allowed me to say "pinky toe" so many times here. :)

Chillin

Update: Katie went to the doctor June 6, and we found out that she now weighs 9 lbs., 14 ozs., and is 21 inches long. The pediatrician said she is "a perfect baby" but of course, we already knew that. :)

Katie's Cupcakes

In case you haven't noticed, everything (well, almost everything) of Katie's has something to do with cupcakes, ice cream, or some kind of sweets. She has onesies, pj's, blankets, hats, socks, and all kinds of stuff in this theme, as well as all of her bedroom decor (although if you notice, in this picture her pj's have apples on them - but that's just because my mom gave her these. I guess SOME people in the family are trying to make Katie somewhat healthy! lol).

P.S. Katie's covered with a hand towel because she spit up a TON earlier in the evening, and it got EVERYWHERE. I was just trying to be prepared for it if it happened again.

Aunt Kendra made Katie this super cute nightlight for her room out of a birdhouse that she painted and decorated. Kendra is so good at what she does and she's always coming up with something new. I am always amazed at the things she can do with a little paint! Nana & Aunt Kendra

My mom's mom, dad, & sister came to visit Katie. She wanted to sleep while they were there...

She finally settled down. My mom's sister April seems to have a calming effect on Katie.
